So, just to recap: the girls and I got here on July 30th, school started on August 7, Kyle and the dogs arrived on August 13th, and the first hockey practice that the twins made it to was a weekend "hockey camp" on August 18-19. We drove an hour and a half to Vierumäki, a "sports institute" where they have all kinds of really cool sports facilities and dorm rooms for the girls. We were there for about 5 minutes before they both bravely said hello and walked off with an entire team of girls and coaches they had never met before. It was impressive! That left Kyle and I alone with a car and a whole bunch of Finnish forest to explore, so we went hiking.

| I think this sign means "the winning tree will be crowned homecoming queen in this spot" |
| Kyle said this was a wasp nest. Beats me. I just thought it looked like a funny lump on a tree. |
| It is hard to judge the scale from this photo, but that is a massive anthill next to that tree. It was about 3 feet tall and was one of several that we saw. Who knew? |
| This one says something about danger... |
| And when we were done we asked google where to find a cafe for lunch. It sent us here. It is the Finnish equivalent of Lowe's or Home Depot, but with a cafe inside. Unfortunately, it is only open on weekdays, so we weren't able to try the food. Maybe some other time ;) |
