Traveling to Finland; part 2

Just before landing in Helsinki :)

Stan found the travelling exhausting and he claimed the biggest bed for himself before anyone else had a chance.
We stayed at the Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa right by the water on the western edge of Helsinki.  It was a great place to stay while we got things squared away with our apartments and furniture etc.  And they had a huge, delicious breakfast buffet every morning!
The view from our hotel room.  The building is actually part of our hotel- the windows you can see through are in the restaurant.  The swimming pool and saunas are right below the restaurant so the kids spent a lot of time in that part of the hotel.

Another photo of Stan.  Keep in mind that all of us will be taking photos this year to try and capture what was important to everyone, not just me.

Sunset our first night in Helsinki.
Europe had been having record heat for at least a week before we arrived, which for the area is only in the mid-80s Fahrenheit so it doesn't sound too bad.  Because it is so rare for it to be overly warm, the buildings don't have air conditioning and they aren't designed for getting the outside air in. Based on how hard it was to get a cool breeze in our rooms I am guessing that they are much better at keeping the cold air out in the winter!
